Per the US GS1 “A New Dimension In Codes – Get Ready For Sunrise 2027, Document # GDTI: 0614141028832v1.3” -
“The GS1 US Sunrise 2027 initiative lays out a plan to help ensure 2D Barcodes will be scanned and processed at any retail POS (Point of Sale) by the end of 2027.”
Additionally, most POC (Point of Care) locations will be covered by this initiative.
To ensure successful implementation of the initiative, several changes/additions will need to be made at various points in the Supply Chain.
